Angela

My name is Angela Clarke and I'm an expat Maritimer who now calls Calgary home.  Since 2009 I've been working to support families experiencing homelessness transition back to home in the community.  Along the way I met Nicole and Amy doing the same work and on a camping trip several years ago the idea to start a book club was born.  The rest...is history.

I tend to be the 'book cheerleader' of the group.  I love books. All books.  So unless something really annoys or offends me (difficult to do I assure you) I am usually the one raising the group's average rating of that month's selection.  I've never been a picky reader - being the one to read cereal boxes at breakfast or the same book twice in a row on vacation because I forgot to bring a backup.  I just need to read. Something.  Anything.  Reading has always been my escape and as soon as I pick up a book I tune out everything around me; getting lost in the words for hours on end or until someone takes the book away (it's happened).

In honesty I never thought I'd be part of a book club but now it's hard to imagine it not being a regular part of my life.  I get to read incredible books with some pretty spectacular women and be challenged in my own ways of thinking.  Oh and there's always really good snacks!
